Raven's Blue

Today is Day 14 of Smeared Ink's annual October-long blog hop, the 31 Days of Halloween.  Welcome back to my blog!

Today I have another 6 x 6 inch fat page for you, entitled "Raven's Blue."

I was trying to capture, with the Perfect Pearls, the glossy blue-black that raven's feathers have .

The details:
1.  Ravens with skull digi stamp from A Day for Daisies, printed on Neenah and colored with watercolor pencils
2.  Ranger Perfect Pearls in Interference Blue
3.  Tree branches stamp from I Brake for Stamps, stamped with Ranger Perfect Medium and dusted with Ranger Perfect Pearls in Interference Blue
4.  Black glitter tape by Recollections, distributed by Michael's

That's it for me today--as always, thanks for stopping by my blog and thank you for all your comments!  To see the entire blog roll, please look in the right-hand sidebar.

Trick or Treat

Today is Day 5 of Smeared Ink's 31 Days of Halloween!  I hope you are enjoying the hop each day as much as I am.  I love seeing all the different ways people find to create Halloween-themed pieces.  So inspiring!

Today I have another ATC for you, "Trick or Treat."  I went on a little ATC-creating spree recently, so you will be seeing lots of ATC's this month from me.

The details:
1.  "First Flight" digi stamp from A Day for Daisies, printed on Neenah paper and colored with watercolor pencils
2.  Alphabet stamps from Studio G
3.  Background collaged from paper scraps and sprayed with Prima Color Bloom spray mist

Thanks for stopping by my blog today, and thank you so much for your comments!  To follow the rest of the blog hop and see all the inspired (and inspiring!) creations, you can find the blogroll in the right-hand sidebar.

Kickstart Your Art Days 5 & 6: Tea Time's Delicious!

Today is the sixth day of a Smeared and Smudged Forum challenge, Kickstart Your Art!, an Art Journal Every Day challenge.  We are given a prompt every morning and then have 24 hours to produce a journal page.

Yesterday's prompt was to use an organic medium.  I chose tea, mostly because all the coffee was gone by the time I started my page!

I started with a wash of very strong tea, letting it run down the page.  I let that dry, then followed with two more successively darker washes of acrylic paint thinned with the tea, again letting it run down the page.

After yesterday's overblown piece, I tried to keep this simple, finishing with a stamp from A Day for Daisies and the hand-lettered word "Simplicity."

Today's prompt was to use a magazine or book page.

Since we always have cooking mags lying around, I cannibalized one of those, then added some collage elements and scribble-painting with a Gelato.  I finished with the stamps of the hand with chopsticks holding a shrimp, for an all-around foodie page; then added the word "Delicious!"  The shrimp doesn't exactly go with the bit dessert pic in the top left, but oh, well!
